This week in our Online Reputation Management Tips we’re going to look at building your newly built websites authority through a link-building campaign. The first thing to do is to create a list of relevant and active directories for example Yell, Thompson local Yelp etc these all only take a few minutes to setup and get going and rank quite swiftly on low-competition search results, it helps to put a lot of effort into each profile by filling it with unique content whilst also adding in your name or brand in an organic way to help the profiles rank quickly.
The next step is to build some social media profiles, the initial setup is really quick and easy but to take advantage of high ranking social media websites you do need to build up a following and publish high quality content often (every 1-2 weeks), the most common sites to use are of course Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr. Spend time writing or finding content that you think have a good chance of being re-shared on social media and you’ll be on your way to a high authority website and clearer search results in no time!
It’s also important to be consistent, your Titles and Descriptions shouldn’t be direct copies of each other but the location and main search term should be the same across all your profiles and website.
If you update your website by publishing a new page or blog post, you should share the news through your social media accounts to potentially drive traffic to your website.
It’s worth putting effort into your social media profiles by having complete descriptions and changing the default cover photos and avatars, which will increase the likeliness of someone following you and re-sharing your content. LinkedIn is another great website to use but you should make sure you bulk out your profile.
Next week we’ll look at boosting your website and search results even further by utilising Web 2.0 websites to populate the search results and take up more screen space to protect your online presence from miss-leading and false information.
