A Case Study about Adult Content Removal from Search Engines
Issue
Snapdragon Media was approached by a client seeking assistance in removing adult content associated with her name from the Internet. Initially, the client provided a few search terms with links to the content and insisted that was all to it. Recognising the potential for a more extensive issue, we proposed a deep-dive investigation to uncover any hidden content, after which a strategy would be devised to remove the infringing content from her Search Results.
What Actions Did Snapdragon Take
Upon the client’s agreement, Snapdragon Media conducted a thorough search that yielded significant results. This investigation was completed within a week, uncovering 15 related search terms and an additional 62 links that the client was unaware of. This comprehensive approach demonstrated our expertise in identifying and addressing the full scope of online content issues.
Results
Snapdragon Media’s efficiency was evident in its swift action. Our team’s diligence and expertise in content removal processes led to impressive results. Within a calendar month, 32 links were removed entirely, and 30 were deindexed, effectively making them inaccessible through search engines.
In addition, we persuaded Google to block any reference to the infringing content, whether it contained their name, alias, or any other associated search terms. Typically, content removal is carried out using the client’s legal name. By clarifying how aliases can lead to personally identifying our client, Google approved the removal of all links.
The outcome of this case was a resounding success for both Snapdragon Media and the client, who was surprised with the amount of content found and how quickly content was removed. With a 100% success rate in addressing all 62 identified links, Snapdragon Media demonstrated its capability to handle complex content removal cases efficiently. The entire process, from the initial deep dive to the successful removal of all content, was completed in just four weeks.
