A Case Study about the Removal of Unauthorised Images
Issue
Snapdragon Media recently undertook a challenging case involving a client facing severe online privacy violations. The client approached us with concerns about unauthorised images of her circulating online without her consent. The situation was particularly distressing as the content creator was under police investigation for multiple defamatory statements that were proven to be false.
Understanding the sensitive nature of the case and its potential impact on the client’s personal and professional life, we implemented a comprehensive removal strategy.
What Actions Did Snapdragon Take
We took action by submitting requests to the three major UK search engines to have the information removed from their search results. In total, nearly 600 links were submitted using various GDPR Laws (Lawfulness of processing, Right to be Forgotten, Right to Restrict Processing) and the recommendations from the local authority.
Results
Snapdragon Media’s efforts proved highly successful, significantly reducing the visibility and impact of the unauthorised content. Over 500 links were removed, leaving us with a 90% successful removal rate, way above the average removal statistics provided by Google.
Our work had a profound impact on the client. Removing the unauthorised content helped alleviate the client’s mental distress, as she no longer had to worry about the content being processed or appearing in search results. This case study highlights our expertise in handling sensitive content removal cases, particularly those involving unauthorised personal information spread across multiple platforms.
